Offsite Tours

The CHRS is pleased to offer the following offsite tours on Saturday September 13th following the conclusion of the scientific portion of the meeting. Registration is required, spaces are limited and extra fees apply. Transportation will be provided.

Halifax Citadel

2:45 PM - 4:30 PM

The Halifax Citadel is anything but a simple museum. Every day, the Citadel comes to life with the sounds and colour of its military interpreters, the 78th Highlanders and the Royal Artillery. Explore the impressive Halifax Citadel and learn highlights of its fascinating history.

The Halifax Citadel guided tour gives visitors the opportunity to explore the history of the fortress. Walk within its walls – both inside and out – and literally touch a piece of Halifax’s military history. The tour will also include a stand-up tasting of one spirit.

(Option 1 of 2)

Alexander Keiths

2:45 PM - 4:30 PM

Over 200 years have passed since Alexander Keith’s Brewery first began producing beer and today the same brewery remains a popular destination in downtown Halifax for visitors and beer fans alike.

Visitors will learn about the history of Mr. Keith’s legacy as well as a behind the scenes look at the brewing process in one of North America’s oldest working breweries. Visitors can sample small batch and limited edition beers brewed onsite, while enjoying live music from some of Halifax’s most talented local musicians.

(Option 2 of 2)

Please Note:

  1. The Halifax Citadel and Alexander Keith's tours take place at the same time. You can only participate in one of the activities.
  2. Delegates who do not wish to participate in the above activities will have leisure time to explore the Halifax Waterfront region.
