Research Awards

George Klein Award For Best Research Publication

The CHRS George Klein Award for Best Research Publication was established in 2023 to recognize outstanding Canadian heart rhythm research. CHRS mid/senior career members are eligible for this award. This award is open to all CHRS members including PhDs, nurses, and allied health professionals. 

Eligibility Criteria

The primary author must:

  • Be a CHRS member in good standing.
  • Be in mid/senior career, i.e., is a researcher who has held a staff appointment for a period of seven (7) years or more.
  • Hold an MD, and/or PhD and/or PharmD, or equivalent degree.

Note: Only the first/primary author of the research publication will be eligible. 

Research publications can be nominated by authors on the publication and/or by any CHRS member. The CHRS Research Committee may also make nominations (after performing a literature search).

CHRS members are eligible to receive this award only once within a 5-year period. 

Selection Criteria 

All nominations will be judged by the CHRS Nominations and Awards Committee.  

Award Prize

The recipient will receive an honorary plaque.

George Wyse Award For Best Research Publication

The CHRS George Wyse Award for Best Research Publication was established in 2023 to recognize outstanding Canadian heart rhythm research. CHRS members who are early career investigators are eligible for this award. This award is open to all CHRS members including PhDs, nurses, and allied health professionals. 

Eligibility Criteria

The primary author must:

  • Be a CHRS member in good standing.
  • Be an early career investigator i.e., has held a staff appointment for a period of less than seven (7) years.
  • Hold an MD, and/or PhD and/or PharmD, or equivalent degree.

Note: Only the first/primary author of the research publication will be eligible. 

Research publications can be nominated by authors on the publication and/or by any CHRS member. The CHRS Research Committee may also make nominations (after performing a literature search).

CHRS members are eligible to receive this award only once within a 5-year period.

Highest rated Electrophysiology Abstract by a Trainee Award

The CHRS Highest Rated Electrophysiology Abstract by a Trainee Award was created in 2012. Abstracts that are accepted for presentation at Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) that are submitted to the CHRS EP Trainee Award will be considered; the trainee with the highest rated electrophysiology abstract will be selected as the winner. 

The award will be presented at the CHRS Annual Meeting. The winner will receive an honorary plaque.
